Visiting Associate Professor, Department of Design and Professor of Electronic Media at the Merz Akademie in Stuttgart, Germany.

Legrady's research and production in interactive digital media focusses on the integration of a theoretical framework with an in-depth exploration of the potential of emerging technologies for new forms of cultural narrative. He is currently working with motion detector sensors which engage movement and presence of an audience to determine events in interactive works.

Recent interactive installations include "Tracing" at the Kunst und AustellungHalle der Bundes Republik in Bonn (1997-98); "Slippery Traces" in the exhibition "Deep Storage" at the Haus der Kunst, Munich (August, 1997), the Kunstforum, Berlin, (Fall, 1997), the Kunstmuseum, Dusseldorf (Spring, 1998), PS1, New York (Fall, 1998) and the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle (Fall, 1998); the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography (1997-98); at the Palais des beaux-arts, Bruxelles (Fall, 1997); National Gallery of Prague (June, 1997). The "Equivalents II" installation was in the "Photography After Photography" exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia (September, 1997).

Recent publications include a CD-ROM catalog "George Legrady: From Analogue to Digital", in conjunction with the National Gallery of Canada exhibition (1998); "Artintact 3", CD-ROM published by ZKM, Karlsruhe, Germany (1996); and "Actualizing the Virtual", CD-ROM , revue virtuelle, Centre George Pompidou, Paris, France. (1996).

Recent Awards include a Computer Integrated Media Award from the Canada Council (1997,1996), a National Endowment for the Arts Visual Fellowship (1995), and the "New Voices, New Visions" prize from The Voyager Company (1994).
