People: Cameron McNall [page 4] | |||
Cameron is currently shooting a 16-mm film about light and shadow in Rome. Every period of architecture, from Imperial Rome and the Pantheon through Medieval and Fascist to present-day is explored. It is hoped that final shooting can take place this coming Spring and Summer of 1998.
While sitting in Los Angeles dreaming about Italia, Cameron is also working on creating a 3-D animation based on the last dated drawing of the Venetian artist known as Canaletto. With 3-D it will be possible to explore this world inside the Basilica of San Marco, let sunlight in the windows, light the candles, and get close to all of the characters. Completion of this ambitious project will entail the fabrication of elaborate watercolor textures, the creation of over forty clay characters for digitization, and overcoming the difficult technical problems in making a computer environment appear like a drawing.
